Free. Usually takes under a minute.
What this test checks
A screenshot at phone size
Your site is opened in a real browser set to the size of a phone, so you can see what mobile visitors see.
Fits the screen
Whether the page has the setting that fits it to a phone screen, or shows a tiny desktop layout that people have to zoom.
Tap to call
Whether your phone number can be tapped to start a call, or has to be copied and typed in.
Readable for everyone
Whether images have descriptions and the page states its language, which screen readers rely on.
The same report also covers the rest of your homepage: speed, Google visibility, mobile experience, security and how easy it is to contact you, with a score out of 100.
Questions and answers
Is this a replacement for Google's Mobile-Friendly Test?
Google retired its own Mobile-Friendly Test tool in December 2023. This test covers the same basics, such as whether the page fits a phone screen, and adds a phone-size screenshot and mobile loading speed.
Why does mobile-friendliness matter?
Google judges websites by their mobile version, and a page that is hard to use on a phone loses visitors before they read anything.
How do I make my website mobile-friendly?
Use a responsive design that adjusts to the screen width, keep text large enough to read without zooming, make buttons easy to tap, and keep pages light so they load quickly on mobile data.
